Chicana Spiritual Activism: Feminista Praxis and Spirit Wisdom in the Borderlands (current book project)
A storyteller at heart, my life's work is to support others in owning their stories and coming home to themselves. When we do that kind of "inner work", in the words of Gloria Anzaldúa, then the "outer work" of striving for social justice, caregiving, and careers become arenas where we can find deep fulfillment and thrive. As a "successful" academic, I struggled with burn out and exhaustion. A published author, scholar, award-winning educator, faculty member, department chair, mentor, and chair of a national professional organization in my field, I was in sheer survival mode. Today I am empowered and anchored in my truth, and committed to supporting others seeking alignment with their own truth and purpose. My doctorate in cultural anthropology, decades of research on Chicana/Latina spirit wisdom and activism, experience developing and practicing intersectional feminist methodologies and social justice pedagogies, along with two decades building community and creating inclusive spaces and experiences for other marginalized groups and individuals in and beyond higher education serve as the foundation for my work. My offerings are available virtually and in-person.
